Delicate dress, dry cleaned

A dress with pearl bands on the sleeves and waist cannot go through a normal wash. The beads sit on a fine ground — heat, water and a spin cycle will loosen stitches, dull the pearls and crease the satin.
This champagne cocktail dress came into our shop on Collier Row Road for professional dry cleaning. Short puffed sleeves, a square neckline and a fitted waist. We clean pieces like this on the same rail as wedding and prom wear: solvents chosen for the fabric, then a light press so the pearl lines sit flat.
